A PRISON guard shot a motorcycle driver who allegedly tried to shoot a ronda tanod in Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City yesterday morning.

Police said jail officer Cloyd Campomanes shot Danilo Delica who was about to pull out his gun in a confrontation with the tanod whom they were unable to identify.

Delica was confined at the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) for his gunshot wound. Campomanes was headed to Cebu City Jail in Barangay Kalunasan when he saw Delica pushing the tanod following a traffic altercation.

Delica supposedly bumped the tanod’s motorcycle with his motorcycle. The tanod wanted to settle the incident in the police precinct but Delica allegedly tried to escape and pushed the tanod away.

Cebu City Councilor Tumulak said Campomanes tried to mediate but Delica allegedly pulled out a gun tucked in his pants, causing Campomanes to shoot Delica first.

The police recovered a revolver from Delica. Supt. Arnel Peralta, Cebu City Jail Warden, said the regional Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJIMP) will look into the incident.
