Vescon Construction off to sizzling start in Mayor’s Cup tilt

THE STAR-STUDDED Vescon Construction got hot in the second half and crushed the RCR Builders, 105-90, at the start of the 2017 Cebu City Mayor’s Cup Commercial Basketball Tournament last night at the Cebu City Sports Institute in Brgy. San Nicolas.
Vescon trailed by four, 53-57, early in the third but found their rhythm and scored 13 unanswered points to start pulling away, 73-59.
Mark Abadia scored six straight, all in transition, while Mark Ababon punctuated the game-defining run with a booming triple to blow the wind out of the sails of the already undermanned Builders.
Vescon brought a 13-point lead to the final canto, 79-66, and quickly erased all hope for RCR to come back with dagger three-pointers from Ronan Isidro and thunderous tomahawk slam-dunk from University of the Visayas reinforcement Bassiere Sackour.
Ababon led all scorers with 31 points while Isidro added 22 markers.
