PREPARATION for this year’s Cobra IronMan 70.3 Philippines has started in Lapu-Lapu City.

Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza inspected yesterday the beautification projects along the route of the prestigious race that will be held on Aug. 6 starting from the Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa.

Radaza checked the route from Barangay Pusok, Ibo, Buaya, Mactan and Punta Engaño, where the running leg of the race will be held.

Just like before, each barangay will be tasked to decorate their respective areas to make the route more festive. Students will also be lining the route to cheer the participants.

“Lapu-Lapu City is very honored to have this event here. So we will compensate [by giving participants] a warm welcome,” Radaza said.

Aside from Lapu-Lapu, the cities of Mandaue, Cebu and Talisay will also be involved in the race, which features a 1.9-kilometer swim, 90k bike and 21k run.

On Aug. 4, Lapu-Lapu City will be hosting carbo-loading event for all the participants and stake holders at the Discovery Bay in Barangay Punta Engaño.

The event, which will feature a pyrotechnics contest, will start at 4 p.m.
