16 persons nabbed, P700K shabu seized in series of anti-drug ops in Lapu-Lapu City

Sixteen alleged drug peddlers were arrested by the police in separate drug operations in Lapu-Lapu City in series of operations spanning three days, resulting to the seizure of two firearms and around P700,000 worth of shabu, reports released by the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LLCPO) on Friday said.

Elements of the Pusok Police Station led by Senior Inspector Alden Zambrano and Chief Inspector Jaime Tolentino conducted a buy bust operation in Sitio Tacan, Barangay Ibo on Thursday night,which resulted to the arrest of two drug peddlers, namely, Robert Manulong, 33, and Claudio Coliao, 28, both residents of the village, the report said.

Police seized from them packs of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) worth P60,000, a .38 revolver with no ammunition, the P200 buy bust money and P200 cash believed to be proceeds from a drug sale.

Earlier, at past 5 p.m. on Thursday, the same team also conducted a buy bust operation in Sitio Seabreeze of Barangay Mactan, which resulted to the arrest of Jan Jaylord Dela Peña, 25, and Marlon Silawan, 26, both of Sitio Saac, Barangay Buaya.

The team confiscated from them packs of suspected shabu weighing more than 10 grams estimated to be worth P120, 360, P200 in buy bust money and a .38 revolver with two live bullets.

Another team from the Mactan Police Station led by Chief Inspector Wayne Magbanua also conducted buy bust operation in Sitio Saac 1, Barangay Mactan on Thursday morning, which led to the arrest of a Boyet Apas, 35, and Noven Lopez, 26, both of Sitio Saac 1.

Seized from them was 16 grams of suspected shabu estimated to be worth P187,620 and P500 in buy bust money.

The Marigondon Police Station led by Senior Inspector Alcon Escosura, meanwhile, arrested an alleged “street level” drug peddler in another buy bust operation in Sitio Sto. Niño, Barangay Basak at past 1 a.m. on Friday.

The suspect, Cepriano Boyles Jr, 31, was a drug surrenderer at the height of Operation Tokhang, the nationwide anti-drug police program which saw thousands of drug users and peddlers surrendering in mass and promising to no longer engage in the illicit drug trade, the
Seized from Boyles were packs of shabu valued at P5,664, the Marigondon police report said.

Apart from the seven arrested between Thursday and Friday, nine suspected drug peddlers were also arrested by LLCPO operatives in four drug operations on Tuesday, resulting to the confiscation of about P300,000 worth of shabu.

Among those nabbed by elements of of LLCPO’s City Police Drug Enforcement Unit (CPDEU) were Mark Anthony Ramos, 28, and his live-in partner Mary Jane Palagnas, 23, who were arrested in Zone Lato, Barangay Calawisan of the city.

The CPDEU team led by Senior Inspector Joey Bicoy and and Chief Inspector Gifter Sucalit confiscated from the couple packs of suspected shabu worth P177,000.

Another team led by Senior Inspector Genesis Aniversario, in a 5 p.m. operation on Tuesday in Sitio African Daisy Locatha of Barangay Looc, on the other hand, arrested three suspected drug peddlers they identified as Efren Dalion, 44, Gerson Dalion, 25 and Ronaldo Igot, 47, all residents of the village.

Seized from them were packs of suspected shabu worth P78,166 and a P900 cash believed to be proceeds of selling shabu.
A followup operation by Aniversario’s team an hour later in the same area also led to the arrest of two suspected drug peddlers, namely Armdando Maguinsay, 57, and his cohort, Christopher Dalion, 27, both of the same place.

They were found with packs of shabu valued at P71,036 and P500 in mark bill.

Another team from Hoops Dome Police Station led by Senior Inspector Felix Cleopas III conducted a drug buy bust operation at Sunrise Village, Barangay Gun-ob, Lapu-Lapu City past 11 p.m. on Tuesday, which resulted to the arrest of William Vismanos, 28, and his live-in partner Cybil Degolacion, 28, and seizure of P3,800 woth of shabu, said a report of the team to LLCPO.

All the seized drugs totaled to around P700,000, the LLCPO said.
