AFTER falling short in the finals last year, the University of Cebu (UC) table paddlers gave Thailand a taste of their own medicine as they defeated the latter, 3-2 to reclaim the mixed team title of the 12th Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) International Sports Fiesta on Sunday in Malaysia.

UC, which won the 10th edition of the annual tournament in 2015, looked ready enough to defend their title last year after sweeping all their seven assignments before eventually falling short to Thailand, 3-1 in the championship round.

“The reason we won this year is because the team played a more balanced game compared to last year,” said UC head coach Jessica Honoridez.

The UC table tennis team is composed of Val Jaca, Lemuel Agbon, Fausto Zues, Athena Comaingking, Jeramae Saromines, Diana Oliverio, Kent Abellanosa, John Cabaluna, Lezlie Agbon, Lundy Darlo and Glendo Nayre.

Next up for the UC table paddlers is the 29th Summer Universiade in Taipei City, Taiwan slated from August 19 to 30.
