MARAWI CRISIS
President Rodrigo Duterte’s goal to end the Maute terror threat in Marawi City before the year ends was met with skepticism by many netizens.
Renan Oklang said, “Terrorists may kill the hostages whenever government troops storm the mosques. But the siege prevents food supply from coming to terrorists which may still lead to the death of the hostages. The terrorists should be forced to come out from their hideouts and surrender.”
Ulysses Castro, on the other hand, said, “December? The hostages in Marawi may all be harmed by that time.”
Another Facebook user, Arlene Rivera, said, “This is very sad. Too many soldiers were lost. Drug addicts should be the ones sent to Marawi.”
Twitter user Maramarah shared, “He (Duterte) also once said he can solve the drug problems within the first six months of his term. He hasn’t fulfilled it.”
