A female criminology student and her father were arrested for allegedly selling illegal drugs in barangay Poblacion, Toledo City, southwest Cebu.

Wendy Pantallano, 21, and her 45-year-old father Eldie, a pedicab driver,  were arrested in a buy-bust in their house in sitio San Juan Baybay last Friday night, said Chief Insp. Michael Bastes, chief of the Toledo City police.

“It was unfortunate because the woman wanted to join the police force since she is criminology student but it turned out she was involved in illegal drug activity,” Bastes said in Cebuano.

Bastes said Eldie was arrested after he sold shabu to a poseur-buyer.

Two sachets and a big pack of suspected shabu were seized from the man’s possession.

Bastes said Wendy was also arrested after police caught her packing suspected shabu.

The woman yielded three packs believed to contain shabu, said Bastes.

Police in Boljoon town, southern Cebu also arrested a man in a buy-bust operation Friday night.

Antonio Blanco allegedly sold a pack of suspected shabu to Insp. Dexter Basirgo,  PO3 Jojit Abah, PO1 Niño Parages and PO1 Vincent Mary Alboladora who posed as buyers.

Police said two sachets containing white crystalline substance believed to be shabu were seized from the man’s possession.

A separate buy-bust operation led to the arrest of a pregnant woman in barangya T. Padilla, Cebu City last Friday afternoon.

Erlinda Obsequias was arrested by operatives of City Anti-Illegal Drug Special Operation Task Force.

Obsequias admitted to the police that she was forced to sell illegal drugs in preparation  for  expenses she might incur when she gives birth.
