Presidential Assistant of the Visayas Michael Dino is set to meet with several mayors in Cebu whose towns and cities are known for their tourist destinations to ensure that the problems in Boracay will not be experienced in the province.

In a press statement, it was disclosed that Dino visited Boracay Island in Aklan to provide assistance to local authorities in their clean up initiatives during the first day of its six-month Boracay closure.

“I would like to meet with the mayors in these local government units. I know that they have already exerted efforts following the president’s directive over Boracay. But I want to hear about their self-rehabilitation plan,” Dino said.

Dino will meet the mayors of Oslob (Jose Tumulak Jr.), Moalboal (Inocentes Cabaron), and those in Mactan (Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza and Cordova Mayor Mary Therese Sitoy – Cho).

The presidential assistant also commended the efforts of the local governments of Lapu-Lapu City and Oslob town, which were proactive in ensuring that their respective tourist spots are clean and free from environmental violations.

“(But) I want to see more concrete actions from these resort LGUs (local government units),” he said.
