A fire caused damage to a warehouse in Barangay South Poblacion, Naga City, Cebu at past 6 p.m., Sunday (July 15).

Senior Supt. Samuel Tadeo, regional director of Bureau of Fire Protection in Central Visayas (BFP-7) said that the fire started at the warehouse of Asian Grains Corporation.

Tadeo admitted that it was difficult to extinguish the fire due to the thick smoke brought by the fire. The incident was raised into a general alarm.

The fire was declared under control three hours after the firefighters responded.

“Kaya nga nag decide na ako na i-akyat sa general alarm kasi medyo nahihirapan ang atong mga bumbero at kailangan nang tulong nang ibang unit,”Tadeo said.

Tadeo also said that the overheating of an airconditioning unit may have caused the fire.

The damage is pegged at P500,000.
