Central Visayas still at seventh place as Palaro enters final stages

Cebu City, Philippines—The Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVRAA) is currently in seventh place as the Palarong Pambansa enters its penultimate day, Friday, May 3, 2019, in Davao City.

Central Visayas currently has accumulated 15 gold medals, 13 silver medals and 25 bronze medals.

Last year, CVRAA student athletes had successfully gotten back to the top 5 after finishing fourth overall with a medal tally of 26-25-36.

Perennial overall champions—the National Capital Regional Athletic Association (NCRAA) looks to once again defend its title for the nth time as it leads in the medal tally with 62-57-37.

At second place is Region 4A or the Southern Tagalog-Calabarzon Athletic Association (STCAA) with a medal haul of 41-35-65 while at third is Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) which has a medal count of 41-21-37.

At fourth and fifth places, respectively, are SOCCSKSARGEN and Bicol Regional Athletic Association (BRAA). SOCCSKSARGEN has 22-34-25 while BRAA has 19-18-25.

At sixth place and a gold medal ahead of CVRAA is Central Luzon Regional Athletic Association (CLRAA) with 16-25-19.

Completing the current top 10 are Ilocos Region (15-8-14), Cordillera Administrative Region (13-9-20) and host region Davao Regional Athletic Association (10-14-23).

The Palarong Pambansa, which is the biggest multi-sporting event organized by the Department of Education (DepEd), will end Saturday, May 4, 2019. /bmjo
