Lacson takes notice of Osmeña’s dispute with PNP; tells Comelec to step in
CEBU CITY, Philippines – Senator Panfilo Lacson has asked the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to already interfere in the ongoing dispute involving Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña and the leadership of the Philippine National Police (PNP) here.
Lacson said in a Twitter post at 6:38 a.m. today, May 6, that “Cebu City is a case of the PNP dipping their fingers into partisan local politics.”
“The incumbent mayor has his hands full in dealing with his rival candidates and the city’s own police force. Comelec should step in before things get out of hand,” said Lacson on Twitter.
Lacson’s Twitter post received 113 likes and 34 retweets as of 1 p.m. today.
“Mysterious deaths of cops killed by cops in Cebu. This is clearly about drug money Mr. Senator. Cops moonlighting as goons,” Richmond posted as a comment on Lacson’s twitter post.
Mayor Osmeña also shared Lacson’s Twitter post on his Facebook page past 12:30 p.m. today. The mayor’s post received 173 engagements, 26 shares and 18 comments in just 30 minutes.
Many of those who commented on Osmeña’s post expressed their agreement on Lacson’s observations.
Tata Sungahid urged Lacson to initiate a senate inquiry on the matter.
