2008-2009, 2004 forge rubbermatch in Don Bosco Cup

Cebu City, Philippines—Batches 2008-2009 and 1994 forged a winner-take-all game for a ticket to their respective division’s finals after they hurdled their respective semifinal opponents in the Don Bosco Cup 2019 last weekend at the Don Bosco Technical Center gym in Barangay Labangon.

In Division 2, 2008-2009, slipped past 2004-2005, 81-74, thanks to the 18 points and six rebounds of John Velasco.

Meanwhile in Division 1, 1994 leaned on the all-around brilliance of Vincent Ian Brigoli who had 17 points, four rebounds and six assists in their 64-55 win over 1997.

Already advancing to the championship round in Division 1 is 1998, which defeated 1999, 63-56. Ron Mabanto tallied 29 points and five steals to carry 1998 to the penultimate round.

Also carving out a spot in the Division 2 finals is 2015, which on the strong inside play of Angelo del Campo to defeat 2016, 60-53. The bullstrong Del Campo had 20 points, five rebounds and two blocks.

The winner-take-all matches will be played this weekend at the same venue. /bmjo
