ABOUT P300,000 worth of property was damaged when a fire razed three houses and damaged two others in barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City shortly before noon yesterday.
Emeliano Daño, arson investigator of the Cebu City Fire Department, said the fire broke out at 11:30 a.m. and was put out in 21 minutes.
The fire reportedly started in the house of Felix Laborte on J. Labra Street.
A family of nine was trapped in their burning home. They were rescued by neighbors who used a ladder to reach the upper floor of the house.
An elderly woman sustained bruises in different parts of her body while trying to escape from the house.
Daño said an investigation is in progress to determine the cause of fire.
