LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu—To honor the miraculous image of the Sr. Sto. Niño, the Bogo City Government held on Sunday, January 31, 2021, a virtual “Sinulog sa Dakbayan 2021 Inter-Cluster Showdown.”

Bogo City Vice-mayor Mayel Martinez said that since the Sinulog 2021 showdown in Cebu City was canceled, they decided to conduct their own virtual Sinulog showdown, to honor the Sto. Niño.

“Murag naandan lang sa Bogo nga muapil gyud mi. Panata nana bale,” Martinez said.

Martinez said that 29 Barangays participated in the Sinulog showdown, which was clustered into six groups.

Each contingent was limited only to 30 participants to ensure that the health and safety protocols were properly observed.

She said that they pre-recorded the participants’ performance on January 27, 2021. The performances were judged during that day.

Out of six contingents, the “Hugpong sa Nagkahiusang Gloms” with participants coming from Barangays Guadalupe, Libertad, Odlot, Marangog, and Siocob, emerged victorious in the competition and bagged the first place prize of P50,000.

Meanwhile, “Tribu Madasigon,” composed of Barangays Polambato, Cayang, Taytayan, Don Pedro, and Cogon, bagged the second place; while “Hugpong sa Gasa sa Kahitas-an,” composed of Barangays Gairan, Sambag, Sto. Niño and Carbon bagged third place in the competition.

They receive the cash prize of P30,000 and P20,000, respectively.

The city also held a Festival Queen showdown which was pre-recorded on January 26, 2021.

Alexa Reign Hernandez was crowned Festival Queen and bagged a cash prize of P10,000.
