MANDAUE CITY, Cebu – Residents in northern and central Cebu and in eastern Bohol have been warned of the threats of flooding and landslides that may result from the rains and thunderstorms now experienced in these areas.

In an advisory released at 7:36 a.m. this Monday, February 8, Pagasa Mactan said that the current weather system is caused by the trough of the low pressure area (LPA) spotted 580 kilometers east of Davao City (6.5°N, 131.0°E) as of 3 a.m. this Monday.

“This information is based on current radar trends and all available meteorological data,” the Pagasa advisory reads.

“The public and the disaster risk reduction and management council concerned are advised to take appropriate actions, MONITOR the weather condition and watch for the next advisory to be issued 11:00 AM today,” it added.

Cebu City’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) said that orange warning level is characterized by intense rainfall or 15 to 30 millimeters of rain per hour.

Evacuation may also be ordered among danger zone residents since the risk of flooding is high.
