CEBU CITY, Philippines— Remember the mama dog and her two puppies who were looking for a new home?

Just last Friday, February 5, 2021, they finally got a new home together!

The mama dog and her two puppies went viral last week when the mother dog chose to stay with her puppies instead of getting adopted alone.

“Makagawas na si mama dog, then dili siya mu biya sa pound kay naa sa sulod ang babies,” said Alexa Yna the volunteer facilitating the adoption.

(Mama dog could have left with a new owner but she wouldn’t leave the pound because her babies were still there.)

After sharing their story online, many adopters showed interest to adopt the family of dogs.

But Yna made sure that she screened the adopters properly so these dogs end up in a safe and happy home.

On Friday, an adopter finally made the cut and was able to bring the dogs home to Barangay Lahug in Cebu City.

The mother dog and her two puppies were among the 50 rescued dogs in a pound in a southern town of Cebu who were to be euthanized this week.

From 50 rescued dogs, nine dogs are still in need of a new home as of Monday morning, February 8. They will be put to sleep if no one adopts them before the day ends.

To those who helped, a big thank you. To those willing to help, there are still nine who need a new home.
