A rape complaint was filed against a 48-year-old man accused of abusing a 12-year-old girl in barangay San Nicolas, Cebu City.
Perfecto Fernandez, who is married, denied the allegation against him. The man was arrested past midnight yesterday.
Barangay tanods Jeffrey Calumpang and Rey Murillo said they were on patrol along N. Bacalso St. when two streetchildren sought their help. They said Fernandez had taken the girl to a secluded area.
Guided by the children, the tanods went to the place where the girl was allegedly brought and found Fernandez lying beside the girl, said P02 Robie Sabandija of the Women’s and Children’s Protection Desk of the San Nicolas Police Station.
Police said Fernandez was drunk. He denied raping the girl and allegedly boasted that he has several girlfriends.
