CEBU CITY, Philippines — The Consolacion Community College is now the Cebu Technological University (CTU)-Consolacion Campus after the bill principally authored by Cong. Emmarie “Lolypop” Ouano-Dizon has now become a law.

In a social media post, Ouano-Dizon thanked former Consolacion Mayor Joannes “Joyjoy” Alegado and incumbent Consolacion Mayor Nene Alegado and the previous Sangguniang Bayan Council of Consolacion for coordinating with her office to achieve this development for the Cebu Sixth District.

House Bill No. 8040, which lapsed into law on May 27, 2022, is now Republic Act No. 11800 or “An Act Integrating the Consolacion Community College in the Municipality of Consolacion, Province of Cebu, into the Cebu Technological University (CTU) to be known as the CTU-Consolacion Campus, and appropriating funds therefor.”

Under RA 11800, the board of regents of the CTU will be authorized to determine the structure, composition, and size of the faculty and staff of the CTU-Consolacion Campus.

Moreover, all parcels of the land that belongs to the government occupied by the Consolacion Community College will be transferred to CTU and be titled under its name.

The funds needed to carryout the provision of this law will be sourced to the General Appropriations Act (GAA).

The newly signed law also provides that the Municipal government of Consolacion will provide assistance until such time that the amount needed for the continued operation and maintenance of the CTU-Consolacion campus is included in the annual GAA.

The implementing rules and regulations (IRR) for this law will be issued 60 days from the effectivity of this act.

CTU now has 24 campuses, including its extension offices in Cebu.
