Girl, 5 killed after bullet hits lolo

A 70-year-old man and his five-year-old granddaughter were killed in a shooting incident in barangay Simala, Sibonga town, southern Cebu early morning yesterday.

Police are still investigating the motive behind the attack that claimed the lives of Ernesteo Resureccion and his granddaughter, Nicole.

SPO1 Antonio Sanchez of the Sibonga Municipal Police Office said the attack happened while Ernesteo was washing the dishes at  around 5 a.m.

Police said an unidentified man wearing a black jacket and denim pants barged in and shot Ernesteo in the chest. The bullet exited from  Ernesteo’s back and hit Nicole, who was sitting on a chair behind her grandfather.

The gunman fled on a motorcycle.

The victims were taken  to the Deiparine Medical Clinic where they were declared dead.

Police said a spent .45 cal. shell was recovered from the crime scene.
