Tropical storm Amang failed to dampen the fevered excitement of Palo residents who positioned themselves and spent the night before along the motorcade route of Pope Francis.

As early as 2 a.m, winds and rain were experienced by the Catholic faithful as raincoat wearing police and military personnel were deployed to keep the peace.

At 5 a.m, heavy rains didn’t deter the children and the elderly from positioning themselves at the motorcade route.

Pope Francis arrived at past 8 a.m. and presided over the Mass at the Tacloban City airport at 9 a.m. with survivors of supertyphoon Yolanda.
