Collazo defends WBO crown against Filipino Diagan in Puerto Rico this Sunday
CEBU CITY, Philippines– The first voluntary title defense of reigning World Boxing Organization (WBO) world minimumweight champion Oscar Collazo is officially on.
This was after Collazo and his opponent, Garen Diagan of the Philippines, passed the mandatory weigh-in on Friday, August 25, 2023 (Saturday, Aug. 26 Manila Time), in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Collazo weighed 104.8 pounds while Diagan stepped on the scales at 104lbs to make their 12-round world title bout happen tomorrow, Aug. 26 (Aug 27 Manila Time) in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
This will be Collazo’s first title defense following his seventh-round stoppage of erstwhile champion Melvin Jerusalem last May 27, 2023, in Indio, California.

Collazo is one of Puerto Rico’s brightest boxing stars being the the first Puerto Rican boxer to win a world title in less than ten fights. Collazo has an unbeaten record of seven wins with five knockouts.
Meanwhile, Diagan, a former Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) light flyweight champion, is slightly more experienced than Collazo, with a 10-3 (win-loss) record and five knockouts.
Undercard fights
In the undercard of this Miguel Cotto Promotions-backed fight card, Mexico’s Jorge Orozco (17-3-2, 11KOs) will take on hometown boxer Juan Carlos Camacho Jr. (15-1, 7KOs) for the WBC North American Boxing Federation (NABF) regional title.
Also, multiple world title challenger Carlos Buitrago of Nicaragua battles Angel Acosta of Puerto Rico for a WBO regional crown.
The rest of the fights pit Yan Carlos Santana against Jostin Ortiz and Yair Gallardo against Kevin Johnson. /rcg
