Eagles top FTW Season 2

CEBU CITY, Philippines—The Eagles completed its dominant run in the FTW Basketball Club League – Season 2 after defeating the Stallions, 63-51, on Sunday evening, August 27, 2023, at the Visayan Glass Gym in Guadalupe.

Oliver Dela Cruz paced the Eagles with his double-double game of 19 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists. 

Jhonrey Gequilan chipped in with 16 points, six rebounds, four assists, one steal, and one block.

Denzel Tee and Trystan Chu each scored 17 points, but this wasn’t enough to  tow them to victory.

FTW Basketball Club League-Season 2 wrapped up last Sunday and also named the special awardees headed by season “Most Valuable Player” Mark Ynoc of the Eagles. 

The rest of the “Mythical Five” includes Jesmar Larumbe (Sharks), Dexter Cabasan (Wolves), Chu (Stallions), and Daboy Sesuelos (Buffalos). 

Meanwhile, the “Best Defensive Player” of the season was Jundy Dimitiman of the Panthers, while the rest of the All-Defensive Team were Juliano Yusingco (Stallions), Ghilbert Rollon (Stallions), Michael Duran (Eagles), and Kyle Co (Panthers). 

Also, Reymond Micaral of the Buffalos and Sean Te of the Wolves received the “Most Improved Player” and “Sportsmanship Award” plums, respectively. 

According to tournament organizer, Bertoni Salazar, Season 3 of the FTW Basketball Club League will start on September 17.
