Concubinage raps filed against husband, 21-year-old mistress arrested in Mandaue
CEBU CITY, Philippines — Concubinage charges have already been filed against a 47-year-old man and his 21-year-old mistress, who were both arrested by police on September 4, in Barangay Looc, Mandaue City,
Police Senior Master Sergeant Rey Atigdas, desk officer at the Opao Police Station, told CDN Digital in a phone interview, that the charges were filed at the Mandaue City Prosecutor’s Office on Tuesday, September 5.

Wife files concubinage case
The complainant on the case is the man’s 48 year-old wife, who requested for the assistance of police after suspecting that her husband was having an affair.
The husband, who used to be an overseas Filipino worker (OFW), was arrested along with a 21-year-old woman suspected to be his mistress. They were both arrested inside the mistress’s house on Monday.

Underappreciated by wife
After his arrest, the man admitted that he had an affair because he felt that he was not appreciated enough by his wife.
The couple has been married for 23 years and have four children together.
The man told reporters that their relationship started becoming rocky because his wife allegedly would not be satisfied with his sacrifices such as working far away from their family.

Nagging, complaints worsened
He said that during the 10 years he worked in Saudi Arabia, his wife would allegedly always complain about the money he sent to her.
He said that the nagging and complaining worsened when he returned to the Philippines.

Husband, lover detained in police station
The arrested husband also claimed that he had suspicions that his wife was also cheating when there were times that she would not come home, but he had no evidence to prove this claim.
The man also said earlier that despite this problem in their marriage, he would be willing to rekindle the relationship with his wife.
However, the wife chose to push through with the filing of charges of concubinage against her husband and his alleged lover.
As of this writing, both arrested persons are detained at the Opao Police Station, according to Atigdas.
