Driver dies after truck falls into ravine in Carcar

CEBU CITY, Philippines — A man died after the truck he was driving fell into a ravine in Carcar City on Wednesday dawn, September 6.

The Carcar City Police Station confirmed that they retrieved a man’s body inside a 10-wheeler truck on the slopes of Luwak, Barangay Napo in Carcar City.

The victim was identified as Armando Matiga, said Police Corporal Jerome Palao of the Carcar City Police Station. He was from Brgy. Taloot, Argao.

Based on initial findings from the police, the accident occurred around 1 a.m. on Wednesday, September 6.

Matiga was bound for the town of Sibonga, the neighboring municipality of Carcar City in the south. His truck, which was carrying gravel, came from Minglanilla.

While police have yet to identify the cause behind the fatal accident, they believed that the driver lost control of his truck, and was unable to get out of his truck when it fell off the ravine.

Carcar City is a fifth-class component city located approximately 40 kilometers south of Cebu City.
