Man with firearms and hand grenade nabbed in Argao

CEBU CITY, Philippines – A 30-year-old man from Argao, Cebu was arrested after he was caught with a hand grenade, two unlicensed firearms, and ammunition on Thursday morning, October 26, 2023, in Purok Boogon, Barangay Lengigon, Argao, Cebu.
The arrest was based on a search warrant and was conducted at around 10:50 a.m. on Thursday.
The alleged suspect was identified as 30-year-old Ronald Albiso Davis, jobless, and a resident of the barangay.
Operatives raided the alleged suspect’s residence based on the warrant of arrest issued by Judge Bernarditto Malabago, presiding judge of the Regional Trial Court Branch 83 in Barili, Cebu.
Davis is accused of violating the Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunitions and was issued a search warrant for this.

Operatives confiscated from the alleged suspect’s house one .9 mm caliber pistol, one steel magazine, and 3 live ammunition for the .9 mm caliber pistol. They also seized a .38 caliber revolver, two live ammunition for the .38 caliber revolver, and one hand grenade.
The police report revealed that the seized firearms had no serial numbers.
According to Policeman Von Tecso, desk officer at the Argao Police Station, the suspect is now detained at the police station pending the filing of appropriate charges against him.
Tecso added that Davis will likely be facing charges for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
The operation was conducted by the 2nd Police Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC), Argao Municipal Police Station, Regional Mobile Force Battalion Region 7 (RMFB), Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU), Regional Intelligence Division (RID 7), and Regional Intelligence Unit (RIU-7).
Argao is a first-class municipality located 86 kilometers south of Cebu City. /rcg
