CEBU CITY, Philippines — ARQ Builders kept its record perfect in the Mandaue’s Pride Basketball Association (MPBA) Season 2: Cebuano Cup after obliterating the Outlaws, 134-96, on Sunday evening, December 10, 2023, at the CPA Gym. 

The ARQ Builders maintained its immaculate 7-0 (win-loss) record to stay on top of the southern conference.

Cabahug leads Outlaws

Leading them in demolishing the Outlaws was Elddie Cabahug who erupted for 43 points with 11 rebounds, four assists, and one steal. Goldwayne Baje added 23 points, while Ian Ortega had a double-double game of 14 points with 11 boards, and six dimes.

Christopher Obeso also joined the scoring spree for ARQ Builders with his 16-point outing with 10 rebounds. Teammates Christian Gallarde and John Paul Dugenio tallied 13 and 12 points, respectively. 

Kevin Reyes had double-double outing for the Outlaws with 38 markers and 15 boards with his team absorbing their sixth loss in seven games. 

ARQ Builders led as many as 44 points, 124-80, in the end game. 

Truck N’ Trail 104, Darchy’s 88

In the northern division, MPBA’s inaugural champions, Truck N’ Trail tallied its fifth win in seven games to grab the third spot in the team standings in routing Darchy’s Commercia, 104-88. 

Dwight Dabon and Mikoh Pahugot tandemned in powering Truck N’ Trail with their double-double games. 

Dabon finished with 27 points with 10 boards, while Pahugot had 25 points, 10 assists, and seven boards. Also, Dansoy Labata had a double-double game of 15 points and 13 rebounds. 

Darchy’s Phimler Seno had 21 points with 11 assists as his team absorbed their fourth defeat in six games.

Rongcales 5th win

Meanwhile, Rongcales grabbed their fifth win in six games to grab the No. 2 spot in the northern conference team standings after beating Steadfast Builders by a hairline, 73-71. 

Jandele Flores finished with 17 points and 16 rebounds to lead Rongcales, while Jestony Baclaan unloaded 19 points with seven assists. 

Charles Sicad scored 22 points in Steadfast Builders’ losing efforts. They now have a 3-4 (win-loss) slate to put them at the No. 6 in the team standings.

Quadernos 2nd win

Lastly, the Quadernos earned their second win in six games after defeating Home Sourced, 76-71, behind Walter Baring’s 29 points.

Home Sourced’s Fritz Manatad spoiled his double-double game of 30 points and 17 boards as his team dropped to a 2-5 card.
