Domingo to face Bravo in WBO Global flyweight title bout on Monday
CEBU CITY, Philippines — It’s all systems go for the World Boxing Organization (WBO) Global flyweight title bout between Esneth “Hard Hitter” Domingo and Michael “Chieftain” Bravo in the double-main event boxing fight card on Monday, December 18, 2023, at the The Flash Grand Ballroom in Manila.
Domingo of the Cebu-based ZIP Sanman Boxing Team and Bravo passed the official weigh-in held on Sunday at the same venue.
He tipped the weighing scales at 110 pounds, two pounds lighter than the 112 lbs weight limit.
Contrastingly, Bravo, 30, of Davao City, had to shed off his excess weight after he initially weighed at 113.2lbs. Bravo eventually got the exact 112lbs weight limit for their 12-rounder WBO regional title showdown.
This will be Domingo’s first title bout in his seven-year professional boxing career. He has a record of 18 wins with 10 knockouts, and two defeats.
Domingo was on an impressive back-to-back winning streak in Japan in 2022. He defeated Japanese prospects Jukiya Iimura and Kosuke Tomioka via knockouts.
Meanwhile, Bravo, is a former Philippines Boxing Federation (PBF) flyweight and Philippines Mindanao Professional Boxing Federation super flyweight champion.
He holds a 14-3 (win-loss) record with seven knockouts.
On the other hand, world-rated Carl Jammes “Wonder Boy” Martin and his opponent, Chaiwat Buatkrathok of Thailand, both weighed in at 122 lbs.
They will fight for the WBO Global super bantamweight belt in the same fight card.
Martin from Ifugao Province has an unblemished record of 22 wins with 17 knockouts, while Buatkrathok, a former WBC Asian Continental featherweight king, has a 40-8 (win-loss) slate with 26 knockouts.
Buatkrathok was recognized in the Philippine boxing scene after fighting former world champion Milan Melindo last January at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC) in a fight card promoted by Prime Stags Sports.
Melindo won the bout by unanimous decision and won the OPBF silver featherweight title.
