Cebuana cager to vie in SLAM Rising Stars
CEBU CITY, Philippines — Palarong Pambansa-bound Zaydhen Rosano of the vaunted Abellana National School (ANS) girls basketball team will compete in the coveted SLAM Rising Stars in Manila from June 21 to 22.
The 15-year-old Rosano, one of the ANS secondary girls basketball team players, was officially selected by the organizers of the SLAM Rising Stars.
The tournament is a two-day basketball tournament that features the country’s best high school players.

According to Rosano’s coach, Darwin Dinoy, she was selected last May, but they only received the invitation to the SLAM Rising Stars this week.

Some notable female players in this tournament include Gilas standout Ella Fajardo, Jack Animam, and Camille Nolasco.
Also, Gilas youth standouts are expected to compete in the upcoming tournament.

Very challenging
Rosano is at par with these players since she was part of the Philippine team that bagged the silver medal in the 13th Asean Schools Games earlier this month in Vietnam.
“Nalipay ug na excited at the same time, pero dili pud mawala ang ka kulba,” said Rosano, a point guard for the ANS team.
“It’s very challenging kay whole Philippines man ang mo participate ana. Akong expectations aning duwaa kay maka puno jud ni sa akong confidence ug dili sila mag regret nga ilaha kong gikuha, ug unta makapakita kog saktong duwa,” she added.
For his part, coach Dinoy said he is super proud of his ward after training her since day one.
“Proud kaayo ko og ni coach Ope kay nag start cya nga zero sa basketball nya naabot na niya ang international level og karon selection nasab sa best of our country. Confident ko nga maka compete siya kay disiplinado ug improved na pud iyahang skills,” he said.
In addition, Rosano and the rest of the ANS girls’ basketball team will represent the Central Visayas in the Palarong Pambansa in Cebu City next month.
Also, they will defend their national title in the Batang Pilipino Basketball League (BPBL) girls under-18 national finals and the SBP 3×3.
