Capitol allots P32.5M for PEI

June 26,2015 - 01:40 PM

Over 1,532 Cebu provincial government employees will receive one month’s worth of basic salary as a one-time grant from the Cebu Provincial Government some time next week.

The Cebu Provincial Board (PB) approved the supplemental budget for the release of the Productivity Enhancement Incentives (PEI) to employees in an omnibus motion during a six-minute special session yesterday.

More than P32.5 million will be released as PEI to all casual and regular employees of the Capitol, public and district hospitals in the province, and the Cebu South Bus Terminal after the accounting office finalizes the payroll.

PB Member Peter Calderon, sponsor of the ordinance, said the PEI will not be taxed.  However, employees who receive a bonus of more than P80,000 for the whole year will have a 30 percent tax subtracted from their PEIs.

The PEI given to all government employees is part of the Aquino government’s Performance-Based Incentive System. /UP CEBU INTERN JULI ANN M. SIBI
