Man escapes in another Duljo-Fatima drug raid
A MAN allegedly belonging to the illegal drug group of Jeffrey Diaz alias Jaguar eluded arrest when police raided his house in barangay Duljo-Fatima, Cebu City on Monday night.
Mart Diez escaped just before operatives of the City Intelligence Branch (CIB) could search his house in sitio Sto. Niño.
Police ended up arresting Christopher Dob, 31; Criesdel Hugo, 38; and Junrel Tradio, 26, who were caught repacking shabu inside the house.
Police seized packs of suspected shabu worth P2.1 million.
Police said they also recovered two 9mm pistols, a .45 caliber pistol and a black widow derringer.
A search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court (RTC) Judge Soliver Peras was used in the raid.
Supt. Romeo Santander, chief of CIB, said Diez is considered a level two drug pusher capable of selling less than a kilo of shabu a week.
The anti-drug operation was the second in two days conducted in Duljo-Fatima.
Last Sunday, police raided the house of Diaz but the man, considered as the second top drug personality in Central Visayas, was able to escape.
Police are investigating the possibility that someone leaked the information on the impending operation that allowed Diaz to escape.
Senior Supt. Rey Lyndon Lawas said it could be that leakage took place at the time of the application of the search warrant in court.
“As per instructions of our regional director, we have to study the case to do counter measures to what the criminals are doing. While the police are trying to employ tactics, they are also doing something to counter it,” said Lawas, regional directorate chief of Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7).
Lawas said all possibilities are being looked into to determine the factors that caused the operation to fail.
