The Bando Osmeña-Pundok Kauswagan (BO-PK) officially proclaimed its slate for next year’s elections after a Mass at the San Pedro Calungsod Chapel in the South Road Properties (SRP) Monday morning.

Former Cebu City mayor Tomas Osmena said they wanted to start their campaign with a prayer.

Osmeña’s runningmate is incumbent City Councilor Nestor Archival Sr.

In his homily, Msgr. Roberto Alesna reminded the candidates to serve the people.

“Never use your position and office and its power to only serve your own self interest. If you do so, you contradict the very nature and purpose of authority. We also betray the people who are rightly to be served. Politics should serve the people especially those who have less in life,”Alesna said.

Incumbent north and south district representatives Raul Del Mar and Rodrigo Abellanosa are seeking re-election next year.

BO-PK’s candidates for north district councilors are Sisinio Andales, Alvin Dizon, Nida Cabrera, Alvin Arcilla, Mary Ann De Los Santos, Malou Tabar, Garry Lao and former Vice Mayor Joy Augustus Young who was in Manila for a meeting.

In the south district, their candidates include Margarita Osmeña, Eugenio Gabuya Jr., Bonel Balingit, Ann Vestil, Vic Buendia, Randy Navarro, Danilo Pacana and Allan “Goliat” Nacorda.

Hundreds of BO-PK supporters attended the Mass at the Calungsod Chapel clad mostly in blue and yellow T-shirts.

Some barangay officials like Lahug barangay chairman Jovito Taborada Jr. and Capitol Site barangay chairman Manuel Guanzon were also in attendance.

Guanzon brought with him some residents wearing black shirts with the words “Demolished by Rama”.

After the Mass and short proclamation, the candidates shook hands with the supporters inside the chapel.

Some barangay buses were spotted outside the chapel.
