Cordova, Lapu-Lapu, Mandaue bets file COC

Father and daughter will be trading places for Cordova town’s top executive posts in the 2016 election.

Mayor Adelino Sitoy filed his certificate of candidacy as vice mayor under the Liberal Party yesterday.

His daughter, Vice Mayor Mary Therese Sitoy-Cho will run for mayor.

Their municipal councilor candidates are Lemuel Pogoy, Allan Tiro, Angeles Gairanod, Nicolas Tura, Rodrigo Sumagang, Cesario Muñez, Cesar Suan and Teodorico Casquejo Jr.

Family problems in the Sitoy clan surfaced when Mayor Sitoy’s son, Provincial Board Member Arleigh Sitoy also decided to run for mayor.

“We wanted him to seek reelection but he refused. He is against my leadership. Teche is more suited as mayor because Arleigh has physical limitations,” said their father.

LAPU-LAPU City

The PDP Laban ticket in Lapu-Lapu city is led by Engr. Rolando Patalinjug for mayor with  Rufo Amores as his running mate.

Dr. Celedonio “Celse”  Sitoy also filed his bid for the lone congressional seat with 12 aspiring city councilors under the Partido ng Demokratikong Pilipino (PDP) Laban with a local party

“Kusgano”. They filed their COCs in the Lapu-Lapu Comelec office yesterday morning.

The councilor bets are Tantan Sabalones, Rufo Bering, Isko Gilig, Titing Tumulak, Ferdy Dungog, Fe Imbong, Sario Silawan, Tino Aying, Dave Godornes, Gery Cosep, Hirel Millama and JV Dela Cerna.

Patalinjug resigned from his post as engineering head of the Mactan Export Processing Zone to run for mayor.

He said he would focus on establishing a public hospital to serve the poor, and urban poor housing.

Dr. Celse Sitoy has a clinic in brangay Gun-ob.  His 36 years in public office includes serving as mayor of Cordova town from 1975 to 1998, vice mayor and municipal councilor.

UNA CANDIDATES

Angel Rodriguez filed his COC as mayor under the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) with his running mate Dr. Ted Tojong, congressional aspirant Concordio Austero  and 12-member council slate.

The candidates for city council are Edward Tan, Felix Lapera, Noel Ilustrisimo, Junbert Guigayuma, Avelina Amorin, John Norman Codilla, Ellomer Riveral, Eleno Destajo, Rogelio Gala, Jonas

Lagroma, Silverio Galo and Nelson Gabayan.

Rodriguez said basic services needed by the poor are not given proper attention by the present administration.

“Our group will make it possible,” he said.

MANDAUE CITY

In Mandaue City, Engr. Ricardo “Gaga” Mendoza was accompanied by a motorcade to the Comelec where he filed his COC as an independent bet for city councilor.

He’s the sports Commissioner of Mandaue City and head of the Solid Waste Management Office of the city.

Mendoza earlier said he would campaign for Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte if he runs for president.
