RUNNERS continue to pile up at the registration sites for Sunday’s  The Million Volunteer Run organized by the Philippine Red Cross/Lapu-Lapu and Cordova Chapter which starts at the Gaisano Mactan Island Mall in Lapu-Lapu City.

Around 300 runners have already enlisted for the race as of yesterday, according to race director Joel Juarez of Coco Running. They are expecting to draw more runners before race day.

The race will feature two distances: three kilometer and 5k.

The running event will be held simultaneously across 38 chapters in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, another running event will be held for other chapters in February 2016.

This nationwide simultaneous foot race is a humanitarian run of PRC that aims to raise funds to purchase life-saving vehicles and equipment to be used in calamities and other humanitarian missions in the country.

According to Juarez, they are expecting to draw more runners with the help of public and private schools.

Those who want to register can visit PRC Lapu-Lapu/Cordova chapter or SM Ticket outlets. Registration fee is pegged at P400.
