SEVERAL packs of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P3.8 million were seized from a man in a buy-bust operation in Lapu-Lapu City.

Randy Aton was arrested in his house in Sitio Ka Isko, Barangay Mactan last Friday afternoon for possessing two large packs of shabu weighing 200 grams, four medium packs of shabu with a scale of 100 grams, five small packs of shabu weighing 25 grams and five small pieces of suspected shabu.

Police Chief Insp. Conrado Manatad, who led the buy-bust operation, said Aton was also arrested last month for illegal possession of firearms. He was later released on bail.

Since then, the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LCPO) received information from Aton’s neighbors and some concerned citizens that Aton was also engaged in selling illegal drugs in the city.

“(Right after) we received a series of reports from his neighbors, we put him under surveillance for two to three weeks,” Manatad said.

Also seized from Aton were drug paraphernalia, P500 buy-bust money and black widow rifle with five live bullets.

Aton is now detained at Lapu-Lapu City Jail pending the filing of charges against him.

Potential charges include violation of sections 5, 11 and 12 of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
