Cebu City to deploy mobile CCTV cameras on election day

ON ELECTION Day, May 9, the Cebu City government will have three closed- circuit television (CCTV) cameras mounted on a vehicle that will be going around every nook and cranny of the city to monitor the conduct of the elections.

The mobile CCTV cameras will augment about 90 other stationary CCTV cameras installed along the city’s major thoroughfares to record not only traffic situationers but also to be on the look out for any sign of trouble related to the elections, said Councilor Dave Tumulak.

Tumulak, who heads the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council,  said the mobile CCTV cameras would roam the city, particularly near public schools transformed into voting centers, to get footages of the election that would be transmitted online to the city’s Command Control Center (C3).

The C3 is equipped with television monitors and communication equipment that are also linked to the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) and  barangay halls,  .“Wala gyuy maka binuang sa umaabot nga election. Ato gyud hingpit nga bantayan (No one can do anything irregular on Election Day. We will closely monitor everything),” Tumulak added.

The C3 communication system will also be used in deploying an emergency response team or an ambulance within five minutes after the center receives any form of emergency call from either the police or the barangay, said Tumulak.
