AN UNIDENTIFIED gunman shot and wounded a bus driver in Sacris Road Extension, Barangay Tipolo, Mandaue City yesterday.

SPO1 Michael Dimalima of the Mandaue City police said the shooting of Natalie bus driver Ernie Calapi was not election related.

Dimalima said Calapi was shot on the left cheek, with the bullet exiting on the right cheek as he was driving his bus out of the garage at 6:20 a.m.

Based on initial investigation, Dimalima said Calapi had stopped the bus after he noticed nails placed at the entrance to the garage. The gunman was waiting for him there.

The gunman fired four times, hitting Calapi on the face, and fled on a waiting motorcycle driven by a cohort.

In Barangay Looc also in Mandaue, a drunk man was arrested last Sunday after he punched a 17-year-old girl on a motorcycle for no apparent reason.

Deveneser Llenes, 39, also resisted arrest when tanods apprehended him after the girl sought help.

Llenes was arrested for violation of the liquor ban and for direct assault.
