A detainee was found dead inside the Pari-an Police detention cell yesterday morning.
SPO1 Racquel Camay of the Pari-an Police station said detainee Reynaldo Yumson allegedly used his underwear to hang himself.
Camay said Yumson was seen standing dead with the underwear tied to his neck while the other end was tied to the bar of the cell.
Yumson was alone in his cell when he killed himself.
Camay said she earlier noticed Yumson talking to himself but when she looked again, she noticed that he was already standing dead at door of the detention cell.
Yumson was arrested based on a warrant for theft last Thursday morning.
Yumson’s sister said she was going to pay bail for his brother yesterday when she learned out about the incident.
She said that her brother had a problem with drugs.
She said that he even attempted to take his life once.
Homicide investigators are now trying to establish if there’s foul play on Yumson’s death.
“Ongoing ang atong investigation pero ang giingon sa igsuon naa ni siyay suicide attempt before katong nadakpan siya sa iyang unang kaso”, said SPO2 Rommel Bancog, homicide investigator.
