A MEMBER of Minglanilla public market task force was shot by an unidentified man around 4 p.m. last Sunday.

Carlito Paraiso, 43, single, sustained a gunshot wound on his nape and abdomen and was immediately brought to Minglanilla district hospital along with female vendor Amalia Nacario, 47, who was hit on her left leg by a stray bullet.

Both victims were later transferred to a Cebu City hospital for further treatment.

Investigation conducted by SPO1 Florante Capangpangan of the Minglanilla Police Station revealed that Paraiso was conducting a routine inspection of unauthorized vendors inside the old public market when an unidentified man shot him. Nacario, who was standing nearby, was also hit by a stray bullet.

Capangpangan said the assailant casually walked away from the crime scene after the incident.

Police are eyeing the old conflict between the vendors and market authorities as the motive behind the shooting.
