UV off to sizzling start, routs Ateneo de Cebu-B
THE DEFENDING Small Basketeers of the Philippines (SBP) champions University of the Visayas (UV) kicked off their title-retention bid on a winning note as they crushed Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu-B, 51–15, at the start of the Milo-backed SBP-Passerelle Tournament last weekend at the Magis Eagles Arena in Canduman, Mandaue City.
UV broke the game wide open in the second period where it held Ateneo de Cebu to a measly three points to build a 28–9 lead.
Daniel Padilla led the way for the boys in green and white with 10 points.
SHS-AdC recovers
In the other SBP match, SHS-Ateneo de Cebu-A leaned on Jared Bahay’s 15 points to down Don Bosco, 69–47.
Ateneo de Cebu–A pulled away in the third, where it outclassed Don Bosco, 22–4, to erect a 57–30 lead heading to the last period.
In the Passerelle division, defending champions Ateneo de Cebu got 21 points from Chico Chan to rout Abellana National School, 96–57.
Don Bosco, on the other hand, leaned on a fast start to beat the University of Southern Philippines Foundation, 62–50.
The SBP Passerelle Tournament is organized by the BEST Center and sponsored by Milo.
