COACH K nabbed two victories in different categories in the ongoing Cebuano Youth Hoops League last weekend at the Labangon Sports Complex in Barangay Labangon.
Coached by Michael “Kokoy” Cenabre, Coach K beat the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu, 43-30, in the 10-under class behind the tremendous efforts of Gestur Canonigo, Kevin Mascarinas and Greg Bregante who scored, 17, 14 and 10 points, respectively.
Renzo Zanoria paced Ateneo de Cebu with 12 markers.
Coach K also emerged victorious in the 16-under division after besting the Gab Air Condition, 63-50. Four players scored in double figures for Coach K in a balanced attack that proved too much for their opponents to handle.
Joshua Bayating and Fritz Sullano led the way for the victors with 14 points each while Jayvee Galarse pitched in 12. Byron Lawton also helped out with 11.
LA Casinillo tallied 21 for the losing side.
Ateneo de Cebu bounced back in the 12-under division with a 54-24 rout of Brajseal Trading Philippines. Budoy Porter, Uno Allosada and JB Belasa connived for 23 markers in the lopsided match.
The grassroots basketball tournament is being backed by Brgy. Labangon captain Vic Buendia.
