REQUESTING documents like identification cards and certifications from the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) may now be done online by its Cebu Chapter members through its upgraded website.

IBP-Cebu Chapter President Atty. Mundlyn Misal-Martin said that upgrading the website has been on the organization’s list of priorities even before their new board members took their seats.

“Our website before was just static. It’s there but it’s not working, and we had to pay another person to update the content. I really wanted it to be dynamic since I use the internet so much. It would be good if I can access the website,” Martin said.

Martin added that the website would be of help in the information dissemination among the IBP members. She said the professional atmosphere of the upgraded website paired with the updated calendar of activities will draw their members to the activities of IBP-Cebu.

Aside from bulletin of activities for IBP members, the upgraded website also enables the members to upload events in the IBP calendar to invite colleagues to participate, said Website Development Committee head Atty. Maricar Joy Tanedo-Tallo.

The engineer of the new website, Atty. Marvin Sanchez, hinted that they will also add a feature on the website enabling the members to engage in a forum. He said that they are also looking into opening the forum for public queries.

Martin also said that the website may be used for clients who seek legal advice from IBP.

“If they want to avail (of our services), they can inform us, set an appointment using the website, and then when they come to the office they already have their requirements,” said Martin.

Since IBP-Cebu caters clients from all over the province, Martin said that using the website can provide convenience both for the clients and the IBP members.

“They can already prepare their requirements and we can also consult with our lawyers on what will be needed for them to represent the case so they can get the papers all set when they come here especially if they come from far municipalities,” Martin said.

Documentation Committee member Atty. Karyna Sencio said the website is open for contributions from the members

“We’ll be providing the list of the editorial board members and an email directing them to submit their submissions in there. So if you’re the feature editor, you’ll be receiving submissions for features,” said Sencio.
