Filtered selfies and curated portraits are some of the most heavily engaged photos on social media, especially on Instagram.

And the result is a feed full of posts that bear little resemblance to the messy reality of everyday life.

That is why this year’s Binibining Pilipinas competition features a campaign they call #NoFilter.

“No filter basically means that all photos must be pure and unaltered. Digital enhancement is reduced to a minimum and the images are practically presented as they come out straight from the camera.

The campaign is used as a means of communicating the authenticity of their photos. This hashtag is a way of telling fans that the contestants’ images are already too lovely to need a filter.

Binibining Pilipinas is breaking the stigma of seeing beauty pageants as a platform only for the perfect pretty faces and body.

Instead, the campaign is encouraging women to embrace their imperfections and be confidently beautiful even without the photo filters.

“#NoFilter. It’s okay to be imperfect because we are imperfect. Embrace your imperfections, love yourself and know your worth, but work on building a better you every day,” their caption says.

On Tuesday, June 15, 2021, the official social media page of Binibining Pilipinas uploaded the #NoFilter photos of the 34 Binibinis of Binibining Pilipinas 2021.

The Binibining Pilipinas grand coronation night is now set on July 11, 2021, after previously being scheduled for June 27.

The virtual swimsuit presentation will be aired live at the official YouTube channel of Binbining Pilipinas set this Friday, June 18, 4 p.m.

The pageant will award four titles: Binibining Pilipinas International 2021, Binibining Pilipinas Grand International 2021, Binibining Pilipinas Intercontinental 2021, and Binibining Pilipinas Globe 2021.

The winners will go on to compete in their respective international pageants.
