LAPU-LAPU CITY, Philippines — The Lapu-Lapu City government will offer a tour package to tourists who would visit the city.

According to Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan, the tour package will take place at the Liberty Shrine in Barangay Mactan.

The tour will last for two hours, which will highlight the history and life of Datu Lapulapu and the Battle at Mactan.

Chan said that they would start offering the tour package in the first week of March.

“Mo-open na ni its like a tour. Naa tay tour within the Shrine, nga its about the story of Lapulapu. The tour will take about two hours,” Chan said.

(This will open and it is like a tour. We have a tour within the shrine that is about the story of Lapulapu. The tour will take about two hours.)

A dinner will also be included in the package after the tour, where tourists will be entertained with the reenactment of the Battle of Mactan while having their meal.

Chan said that this will also serve as help by the city to the tour guides, whose livelihood was greatly affected for two years due to the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

“Gitabangan nato ang atong mga tourist guide. One way of helping them. Naa man silay association, mura nig nagtinabangay, nag-assist ang siyudad ngadto nila. Ila rani, sa kapunongan ni sa mga tour guides. Ila pod ning mga performers,” he added.

(We are helping our tour guides. This is one way of helping them. They have an association, they helped each other, the city assisted them. It is their project, the association of the tour guides. The performers are also theirs.)

Earlier, Chan issued an executive order which allows fully vaccinated foreign tourists to enter the city.
