CEBU CITY, Philippines – Several local officials in Liloan, Cebu were sworn in to their new roles following Liloan Mayor-elect Christina Frasco’s appointment as Tourism Secretary.

Vice Mayor-elect Aljew Fernando Frasco took his oath as the town’s new mayor before Cebu 5th District Rep. Duke Frasco during an oath taking ceremony last Saturday, July 2, 2022, according to a post from Liloan municipal government’s official Facebook page.  Aljew is the cousin of Rep. Frasco.

Also present in Saturday’s oathtaking ceremony were Councilor-elect Darwin Apas and Yati Barangay Councilor Emma Pepito.

Apas succeeds as Liloan’s vice mayor while Pepito succeeded as Yati’s village chief after its captain, Lucelito Pilapil, was appointed as a member of the town’s legislative body.

Christina has accepted President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr.’s offer to be part of his Cabinet, and lead the Department of Tourism (DOT).

She was formally sworn in as the new Tourism secretary, together with other officials appointed by Marcos Jr., last June 30, a few hours after the latter’s inauguration as the country’s 17th President took place.
