CEBU CITY, Philippines — Jedy Selitorio, 23, is enrolled as a Grade 11 student in one of the public high schools in Cebu City.  And if he is not in school or doing school-related works, he is busy with his work selling illegal drugs.

Following his arrest Friday night, July 29, Selitorio may have to skip school for a while to serve his jail term if proven guilty of the possession and sales of illegal drugs charges that Talisay City police will soon file against him.

The suspect, a resident of Barangay Mambaling in Cebu City, was arrested with 230 grams of suspected shabu worth P1.5 million during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Tangke in Talisay City late night on Friday, according to Police Lieutenant Colonel Randy Caballes, chief of the Talisay City Police Station.

Considering the volume of shabu that was recovered from his possession, Caballes suspects that Seliterio started to engage in the illegal drugs trade when he was still a minor.

Quoting the outcome of their investigation,  Caballes said, Selitorio is able of dispose 250 grams of shabu to buyers in Barangays Mambaling, Pardo, and Inayawan in Cebu City and parts of Talisay City in a week.

The suspect, he said, is on their list of high-value individuals.

“Most likely mao gyud na ang iyahang gitrabaho hangtud nagkadako… Early years lang niya, nakasugod or involved na gyud na og drugs,” Caballes said.

Caballes said the buy-bust operation against Selitorio was planned after they received information on his alleged operation in Barangay Tangke and in nearby barangays.

The suspect, he said, would source his supply of shabu from a certain “Edcel,” who has contacts at the Cebu City Jail male dormitory.

As of this writing, Caballes said, they continue to investigate and locate “Edcel.”

Meanwhile, Caballes said that this early, they have already started their preparations for the conduct of anti-illegal drugs dialogue in schools in their city with the planned resumption of in-person classes.

“Naa tay schedule sa Talisay. Naay opening sa klase. Invited man ta nga mo speak sa opening so mao na ang atoang i discuss o lecture sa mga bata, kining about sa illegal drugs. Next week, naa mi schedule sa Lawaan during sa brigada skwela,” he added.
