LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu—Aside from Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan, his wife, Lone District Representative Cindi King-Chan, has also donated her 5-month salary for the restoration of the St. Augustine Parish on Olango Island.

The Congresswoman’s salary for five months amounts to P1 million.

Cindi personally handed over a cheque to Fr. Edgar Lumarda, parish priest of St. Augustine Parish.

To recall, the church suffered extensive damage due to Super Typhoon Odette in December 2021.

Aside from the restoration of the church, the amount will also be used for the building of a new convent.

Cindi will also ask the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and contractors to donate construction materials to the church.

On Tuesday, January 10, 2023, Mayor Ahong donated his three-month salary to the church.

The mayor has a monthly salary of more than P188,000.
