1,500 Oponganons to earn P4,300 for 10-day job — exec
LAPU-LAPU CITY, Philippines — Some 1,500 Oponganons will earn at least P4,300 each for a 10-day job. This was after they were included in a program of the for disadvantaged and displaced workers of the Labor Department of Central Visayas.
These Oponganons started their work on Thursday, April 13, 2023.

Agri jobs for Oponganons
“For kani nga batch sir kay kuan ni siya manilhig, mananom, agricultural ni siya sir. Mostly agricultural, agro-forestry community project ni siya sir,” said Lawyer Apple Collados, chief of staff of Rep. Cindi King-Chan (Lapu-Lapu lone district).
(For this batch, they will sweep, plant, they will do agricultural stuff. Mostly agricultural, this is an agro-forestry community project.)
She was referring to the 1,500 beneficiaries of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa mga Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program of the DOLE-7.

Where these Oponganons came from
Collados said tht of the 1,500 beneficiaries, 800 of them would be from the Lapu-Lapu mainland while the rest would be from Olango Island.
Collados was involved in the project because the Tupad project of the DOLE-7 was funded by Representative Chan.
DOLE was the one, who would identify the kind of work that they would be implementing in their community, while the barangay would monitor them.

After 10 days
“After 10 days nila is magrequire ni si DOLE ug murag summary sa ilang work, sir, with pictures attachment for the whole 10 days,” she added.
(After 10 days, DOLE will require them to give a summary of their work, with attachment of pictures for the whole 10 days of their jobs.)
