NGCP: Power outage may hit areas in Davao Oriental due to storm Kabayan
MANILA, Philippines — Parts of Davao Oriental may experience power outage as one 69 kilovolt (kv) transmission line that supplies power to the area is down, National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said on Monday.
In a 10 a.m. update on the condition of its power lines amid Tropical Storm Kabayan, NGCP reported Bislig-Baganga 69 kv Line 1 is off despite being partially energized at 6:51 a.m.
“NGCP has mobilized its line crews and is currently conducting patrols to inspect and assess the impact of the tropical storm on its operations and facilities,” the corporation said in a post on Facebook.
“Simultaneous restoration activities are also being conducted in areas already accessible,” it added.
However, NGCP reminded the public that their distribution utilities may address local power disturbances better.
Earlier, the corporation reported an unscheduled power interruption in Davao Oriental due to the outage of the Cateel-Baganga segment of the Bislig-Baganga 69 kv line.
Meanwhile, state meteorologists said Kabayan made landfall at Concepion in Davao Oriental at 9:30 a.m.
National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported as of 8 a.m., a total of 11,729 persons were pre-emptively evacuated to around 48 evacuation centers in the Caraga region.
