5 Cebuano netters move on

FIVE Cebuanos advanced to the second round of the Peugeot Philippines Tennis Open news regional qualifiers yesterday at Cebu Country Club.

Marc Nicole Suson nipped Rainier Rene Jaum 6-2, 4-1 (ret), while Jan Godfrey Seno scored a walkover win over Lawrence Villarin.

The 15-year old Suson will play Clyde Dale Biennes while the 16-year old Seno will take on Jose Maria Pague today.

Also making it to the next round were University of San Jose-Recoletos products Israel Abarquez, Norman Joseph Enriquez and Franklin Encarnacion as they beat Ron Vincent Gaite 6-0, 6-2, Dave Brigoli 6-1, 6-2 and Dale Estonillo (WO), respectively.

However, Franklin’s brother Christopher lost to John Clyde Largo 0-6, 4-6.

Action continues today as top-ranked Johnny Arcilla and second-seeded Francis Casey Alcantara take on separate oppinets.

Arcilla will go up against Jaime Cateo while Alcantara will test Hector Toledano.
