Odette aid: 33,000 more Cebu City residents to receive P5,000 cash
CEBU CITY, Philippines — There will be 33,231 more Odette victims who will receive P5,000 financial aid from Cebu City.
The Cebu City Treasurer’s Office and the Department of Social Welfare and Services (DSWS) are set to distribute P166 million worth of financial aid to 18 barangays in the city from June 4 to 9, 2022.
Of the P166 million, at least P151.13 million came from the budget of the city government, which was passed by the City Council early this year.
A total of 30,226 beneficiaries will get the P5,000 aid including Agsungot, Basak Pardo, Basak San Nicolas, Guadalupe, Guba, Hipodromo, Inayawan, Lahug, Mabolo, Mambaling, Pahina Central, Poblacion Pardo, Quiot, San Jose, Sapangdaku, Sudlon II, and Talamban.
It must be noted that the aid is given per structure owner and not per household.
The other P15 million budget comes from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) which will be distributed to 3,005 Barangay Tisa residents.
For the DILG beneficiaries, each household will receive different aid based on the number of members.
Here is a breakdown of the beneficiaries that will receive the financial aid:
City Treasurer Mare Vae Reyes said that at least 90 percent of the beneficiaries had received the Odette financial assistance in a previous distribution.
“Hopefully mahatagan na gyud nato tanan within this month. June na man ta, hopefully,” said Reyes.
(Hopefully, we can release the aid to all within this month. We are now in June. Hopefully.)
The distribution will be done in the barangay gyms in coordination with the village officials. The barangays are urging the beneficiaries to follow the health protocols by wearing face masks.
Beneficiaries are also encouraged to bring umbrellas, water, and food should the waiting take time. Children are discouraged from the venue to protect them against COVID-19 transmission.
